One of Bishops' full-time music teachers is leaving at the end of term 2. They are looking to find someone to replace him temporarily for 6, maybe 9 months (i.e. terms 3 and 4, maybe term 1 of 2011) until a permanent appointment is made.

The temporary post will be for academic music teaching ONLY (no practical) for the following subjects:

Grade 8 theory
Grade 9 theory
Grade 9 aural
Grade 11 history
Grade 11 aural

Auburn House Montessori School: Looking for a Class Music Teacher (Grade1 - 5) from 1 August - 30 November.

POST OF TEACHER: WENDYWOOD MUSIC CENTRE

A vacancy exists for a suitably qualified person for the post of teacher at the Wendywood Music Centre from 1 March 2010. The successful applicant must have a degree in music or similar qualification, be able to coach pupils up to Grade 8 Unisa in piano and the corresponding theory. An ability to teach other instruments and arrange for schools’ percussion would be an advantage. The successful applicant must also be able to take the school choir.< br>

Wendywood Music Centre, established in 1974, is a semi-private extracurricular centre based at Wendywood Primary School, catering for primary and high schools in the Northern Johannesburg area and beyond.

Pupils are instructed in Piano, Clarinet, Saxophone and Tuned Percussion up to Grade 8 Royal Schools and Unisa. Tuition is also offered in Guitar, Recorder and Drum Kit. The Music Centre has been known for many years for its excellence in schools’ percussion.

The Senior Percussion Ensemble has participated in the Grahamstown and Oudtshoorn Festivals, has toured Kwa-Zulu Natal several times and performs corporate events. It has been invited to play at the Tshwane Youth Festival at the State Theatre for the last 9 years. All pupils are encouraged to participate in the percussion ensembles.

Andrea Hobson is currently in her first year of Masters in music at Rhodes University. She is majoring in Euphonium performance and Composition. She is involved in various ensembles (on both euphonium and trombone) including the Rhodes university orchestra, Eastern Cape Philharmonic orchestra, Smudge jazz ensemble and a Horn ensemble. She also tutors the foundation theory course at Rhodes University and is a part time lower brass teacher at DSG/St Andrews. She is involved in the administration of the Sasol National Youth Orchestra Foundation as well as having attended the course where she was placed as first euphonium in the Wind ensemble.

Anthea is looking for part-time work in 2010.
