Members of the public are welcome to attend the weekly performers’ classes and lunchtime concerts which take place every Wednesday at 2 pm and Thursday at 1 pm respectively during the academic term. Admission is free, and the concerts fit neatly into 40 minutes. Friends of the College are offered 15 vouchers for R495. This works out to a considerable saving of R33 per ticket. Pro rata tickets may then be purchased at R33 each. Our chamber music ensembles are in great demand to perform at private functions and homes. The 10th SAJE Jazz Conference will celebrate 25-plus years of formal and informal jazz education in South Africa with three exciting days of performances, workshops and research papers by top local and international jazz educators and performers. Rossini’s exuberant coronation comedy was written to showcase the fourteen greatest voices of his time. The whimsical plot involves a motley group of European dignitaries who are stranded at a spa hotel en route to a coronation. CTO and UCT’s co-production will receive a witty and elegantly (choreographic) updating, as fourteen B-list celebrities find themselves stranded in a chic airport hotel lobby – expect vocal fireworks, ebullient arias and energetic finales!

THE PICK ‘N PAY/FINE MUSIC RADIO 101.3

This competition recognises a student in each of two categories, Classical and Jazz, and is open to all students between the ages of 18 and 28. Participants are invited to send in a recording of their work, which is judged. A selection of the recordings is featured on Fine Music Radio 101.3 prior to the public concert where the three finalists in each category compete for the prizes.
