Sponsorships
Times are tough. Financially, socially and culturally. The organisations below are striving to improve the lives of children from less-advantaged backgrounds through the world of music and are looking for sponsorships.
Kronendal Music Academy is a Non-Profit Organisation, bringing the gift of music to the underprivileged in the Valley of Hout Bay. We hold 12 weekly ensembles, and have 8 fully-funded individuals in one-on-one music lessons. There is a
never-ending supply of enthusiastic and talented students and community members, and teachers are always keen to get involved. KMA has brought hope and love to over 250 pupils to date and continues to work for the greater good of the community. “Integration and tolerance, self-respect and opportunity”: these are our principles.
In July 2011 KMA was awarded the Lions Club Louis Volks Humanitarian Award for its work in Hout Bay in the past 4½ years. However, as we depend on annual grants and donations from government and private individuals we continue
to make constant appeals to the public, both in South Africa and abroad for financial support. While we wait for grants to be forthcoming we still need to pay our teachers and keep KMA running. Therefore, if you are able to make a much-needed donation at this time of the year, of any amount, we would be most grateful.

We the above-mentioned organization would like to greet you in the wonderful name of our Lord and Father, Jesus Christ.
We are honored to write this letter to you, appealing for your assistance in getting our organization developed and turned into a self-sustainable organization.
Our vision for the Organization is to positively contribute to the development of youth and also other age groups. With the current crime rate within our communities, we strongly believe that with the introduction of the musical development we shall contribute to the reduction in crime and also poverty within our communities.
As a newly establish Registered Youth Organization, we rely on the support of Organizations, like yours to assist us getting on our feet. We require at the moment more instruments and uniforms. (Saxophones, trumpets, trombones, drums used or old ones) Also we require sheet music-scores.
We consist of 45 members recently and are still growing. Most of our members are still scholars and from disadvantage communities. Members are also invited from all cultural groups.
We are already active within various communities, also been involved recently with fundraising for the local Child Welfare Organization.
Should you require more information with regard to the organization, please do not hesitate contacting us at the below-mention contact numbers.
Your contribution towards our organization will be highly appreciated.
Yours faithfully

Other great news is that the ProCantu Youth Choir is on their way to compete in the 2nd Grand Prix of Choral Music in Graz, Austria, during the July holidays (http://www.interkultur.com/competitions-festivals/grand-prix-of-choral-music/graz-2011/) . This is a very prestigious competition in that only choirs that have won recognised international competitions in the past, are invited to take part. The choir departs end of June for a concert tour of England and Belgium and will go to Graz on the 11th of July for the competition.
The Choir would like to put a request out to their supporters: they have ±7 or 8 choir members who are not able to raise the full fee for the tour (R15,500 per choir member for the 2½ week tour). If anyone out there is willing to contribute towards their costs, or if you have any good contacts with companies or institutions that they can contact for donations, PLEASE contact Leon Starker, 082 571 4263 / leon@procantu.co.za.
Also a reminder that all previous Pro Cantu recordings can now be downloaded online from http://rhythmmusicstore.com/music/6891/Pro-Cantu/ .
Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons S C based in Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town, South Africa, was formed in 2004 by members of the community and music lovers.
They have recently embarked on a "Musical Brass Band" youth development academy program within their community and have attracted youth of all ages from Rocklands, Mitchell's Plain as well as other areas.
Their main objective is to uplift the youth within their community by building a "Musical Brass Band" youth academy. The program aims to educate and discipline the children whilst teaching them all about the exciting world of music; the instruments and the sounds that they make, as well as teaching them leadership skills. The program also assists the youth to focus on their personal goals and aims in life, education and a lot more.
The township areas of Cape Town are well known for their drug related and gangsterism problems and there is an urgent need to address these issues.
Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons S C training facilities are currently based at the Portlands Sports ground and they are grateful for the co-operation shown by the Portlands sports governing body who have agreed to allow Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons S C to use their grounds for training purposes.
Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons S C have launched several fund raising initiatives, but the poverty level in the region as well as the current economic climate in the country has resulted in a lower than expected outcome from these events. They are therefore looking for sponsorships, embarking on a drive to raise funds outside their immediate community.
Any sponsorships received towards Mitchells Plain Young Tycoons S C will go directly to the youth "Musical Brass Band" academy and funded support will be accounted for in full through stringent accounting controls currently in place.
Should you wish to offer financial assistance, or would like to know anything more about the project, please contact -

ADOPT A STUDENT
Dear Friends
The Athlone Academy of Music was established in 1994 to specifically provide the previously marginalised communities in Athlone (Cape Town) with the opportunity to develop their musical skills and talents. Up till now the academy has succeeded very well in achieving this objective.
The Academy has gone even further by creating the opportunity for those who have attended to further their musical education at university level and even to develop and play professionally.
Currently the Academy has approximately 400 students who take up various instruments such as:
- Violin
- Viola
- Cello
- Guitar
- Trumpet
- Saxophone
- Trombone
- Piano
- Keyboard
- Percussions (Drums)
- Electric Guitar
- Voice Training
The Academy also has:
- A fully functional Orchestra
- Youth Jazz Band
- A Choral Choir open to all members of the public (young and old)…no charges
For the past 18 years it has been a massive challenge to operate the school with very limited financial resources. Many of the students we offer music lessons to come from poor backgrounds and cannot afford the monthly tuition fee of R230.00 (24 euros). I am therefore appealing to you to adopt one of these students for the year. You will be provided with a profile of the student. Quarterly results will be e-mailed to you and you will be updated regularly on the performance of the student.
I trust that you will respond positively to this request.
Sincerely
THURSTON BROWN
